What lead you to improv?
I started a course in improv about 8 years ago because at the time I was single and figured that I’d be able to find funny single men in such an environment. Besides the fact that it turned out to be true, I also found that I really enjoyed creating something never seen before with my fellow improv players. The following year I joined a student association focused on Comedy Sportz (the competitive version of improv), played in performances, joined in tournaments and have advocated the usefulness of improv skills ever since. After moving to Rochester in 2016, I found a set of wonderful like-minded people and we decided that forming an improv troupe in Rochester was the right thing to do. What did you want to be when you grew up? Dolphin trainer and veterinarian What did you end up becoming? Physician, researcher, the physical embodiment of a bouncy ball If people were to describe your improv style, what would they say? Meta humor, fast paced, brainy, out of the box, “hey look, a story line that I can completely ignore and replace with my own idea.” If you were a type of nut, what nut would you be and why? Hmm, I guess pistachio. With improv I love trying out new things and I am okay with the fact that not all of them can be winners; just go on to the next nut and see if you can open that one. |
